Basic words and phrases
Katsuzetsu

We quite often use this word even though it is not in a dictionary. It means “the tongue’s exercise ability”.
If someone can pronounce difficult phases or sentences smoothly and clearly, we call it “katsuzetsu ga ii” in Japanese.
The opposite is “katsuzetsu ga warui”. I’m sure you can find “katsuzetsu ga warui” newscasters in your own countries.

As well as most common tongue twisters, we have listed phrases and sentences that are known as difficult to read or pronounce among newscasters and narrators.

They are difficult even for native Japanese speakers so please don’t get disappointed if you can’t do them.
